Sternwheeler gets stuck
The Willamette Queen left Salem for Portland on Sunday with passengers on board and got stuck in low water about a mile from its overnight stop in West Linn.
The passengers tried shuffling from one side of the boat to the other to wiggle it free but in the end it took a tug boat to do the job.
The captain said the passengers will get their money back for the inconvenience.

That section of the upper river can be quite trecherous. They should have hired me to show them the way. If it really was a mile upstream they probably lost control in the narrows and hit some rocks. Got bow thrusters?

Oh, stop. This is not the same sternwheeler that had trouble last year. And cut the captain some slack - the locks haven't been open for a couple of years and things underwater might have changed. This was supposed to be a celebratory lock re-opening voyage. I hope it didn't hurt the vessel, and I'm glad all the passengers are fine.
